This is an American single malt rye whiskey made from 100% malted rye. It comes from Barber Lee Spirits in Petaluma, California, in a 75cl-sized 750ml bottle at 45% ABV.
It was double-distilled in a custom copper pot still and aged in new, heavy-char American oak. Fermenting, distilling, ageing and bottling all take place on site, in a brick warehouse dating from 1910. There is no age statement.
The nose is sweet, with maple syrup and vanilla over nectarine and peach stone fruit. On the palate come toasted rye bread, cinnamon-roll spice and toasted sesame, prickly at first and then warm and spicy.
