Bardstown Bourbon Co. Origin Series is a six-year-old Kentucky bourbon bottled at 48% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the distillery's first line made entirely from its own spirit, with the grain milled, fermented, distilled, aged and bottled on its Nelson County campus in Bardstown. The mashbill is high in rye: 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley.
Vanilla wafers and fresh apple lead the nose, with clove, light cinnamon, caramel and toasted grain. The palate opens with cinnamon and white pepper, then burnt sugar, brown butter and dark honey. The finish is medium to long and dry, with herbal mint, pepper, warm honey, cinnamon and a faint leathery note.
