Barrell 18 Year is a blend from the Barrell Black Label Series, bottled at 125.24 proof in a 75cl bottle. It combines 18-year-old Kentucky whiskey finished in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels with Canadian whiskies aged 23 to 25 years and finished in Sauternes barrels from Bordeaux.
The Cabernet Sauvignon casks bring dark fruit and tannin, while the Sauternes casks add a golden, honeyed sweetness.
Reviewers describe a nose of bubble gum, cherry cream, rose petal, strawberry and peach, and a palate of cherry, plum and creamsicle with light cinnamon, vanilla and oak. The finish brings loganberry, apricot and golden raisin.
