Basil Hayden's – Kentucky Red Wine Finish Bourbon (70cl, 40%)

This is a special release Kentucky bourbon from Basil Hayden's, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It blends the usual high-rye Basil Hayden mash bill with bourbon partly aged in Californian red wine casks. The result is a bourbon with cherries and dried fruit alongside the vanilla and charred oak expected of the style. It has a toasted brown colour with amber hues and a crisp, delicate mouthfeel. The nose shows dried fruit, cherry, vanilla and a hint of toasted oak. The palate brings sweet cherries and charred vanilla oak, leading to a warm finish.
