Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof is a wheated bourbon from Holladay Distillery in Weston, Missouri, founded in 1856. It is aged for a minimum of 6 years and bottled at the strength the barrels yielded, with nothing added, so the proof varies by batch. It comes in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 73% corn, 15% soft red winter wheat and 12% malted barley, with the wheat taking the place of rye in the original Holladay recipe. It is aged in Missouri white oak and certified Real Missouri Bourbon. Tasting notes describe sweet caramel, banana nut bread, maple, stone fruit and barrel char on the nose. The palate offers stewed cherries, molasses, dark caramel and buttered cracker, and the finish is long and spicy with hibiscus and leather.
