Benriach The Sixteen is a 16 year old single malt bottled at 43%. It was matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks.
The previous 16 year old was withdrawn in 2016 because there were not enough casks to fill it. This version returned in 2022.
The nose is very fruity, with baked apple, figs, apricots, cherries and pear, plus honey and vanilla pod. The palate adds honey, baked pineapple and raisins, with chocolate, nutmeg and vanilla. The finish is long, with candied fruit like a sweet fruit compote.
