This Benriach single malt was distilled in 1966 and bottled in 2021 after 55 years in a first-fill American hogshead. Gordon & MacPhail selected the cask for its Dram Takers Collection, whose design is inspired by the Book of Kells.
It was bottled at 51.2% in a 70cl bottle, with an outturn of just 52 bottles. The whisky is natural colour and non-chill-filtered.
The nose combines dried fruit, fine wood notes and vanilla. On the palate, rich chocolate meets ripe fruit, gentle sweetness and spicy oak. The finish is long and warm, with subtle sweetness, ripe fruit and light wood.
