This Benriach is a 13 year old Speyside single malt from 2010, bottled at 61.1% without chill-filtration or added colour.
It spent its last two years in a sweet ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry butt.
The nose is spicy, with sticky gingerbread, fruit and liquorice; a little water brings out juicy pear and a hint of unripe mango. At full strength the palate is slightly dry, with ginger, pepper and sweet plum wine. With time or dilution it shows layers of fruit, spice and a touch of oak.
