This is a 34-year-old Benriach single malt from a single cask, selected by Elixir Distillers for the Director's Special series of The Single Malts of Scotland. It yielded 164 bottles at 46.7%, in 70cl bottles, without chill-filtration or added colour.
Its profile combines mango, apricot and honey with vanilla, almond, orange and baking spices. Polished oak leads into a long, creamy finish.
The nose adds delicate floral notes to ripe mango, apricot and honey. On the palate come orchard fruit and dried apricot, with crème brûlée, orange and baking spices. The finish joins vanilla cream and soft fruit with tobacco, spice and dry oak.
