BenRiach – Peated Albariza 22 Year Old Second Edition (70cl)

BenRiach Peated Albariza is a 22 year old single malt Scotch whisky, here in its second edition and in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled from peated malted barley, matured in American oak casks and then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The name refers to the white, chalk-rich soil of Andalucia in southern Spain, which is regarded as the best soil for growing sherry grapes. The whisky sets rich peated malt against the style of wood chosen for its final maturation. The colour is summer harvest straw. The nose has candied peel, soft peach and ripe banana with Demerara sugar, over gentle peat smoke and sweet oak spices. On the palate, peat smoke meets citrus zest, white pepper and ginger, leading to a grassy wood smoke finish.
