BenRiach – Quarter Cask Malt (70cl, 46%)

This is a BenRiach single malt made from peated malted barley and matured entirely in quarter casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. Quarter casks are small, so the spirit and the wood interact more closely and the whisky gains depth of flavour and aroma in a shorter time. The nose combines wood smoke that builds towards burning heather with ripe orchard fruit, peach, cinnamon sugar and a faint herbal note of fresh barley. On the palate, intense peat smoke softens to smouldering embers with green pear and nectarine, nutty oak, vanilla, white pepper and a twist of lime. The finish is crisp and smoky.
