BenRiach The Sixteen is a 16-year-old Speyside single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It left the range in 2016 and has since returned to the core line-up.
The whisky matures in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, with a share of virgin oak casks added. BenRiach's house style is marked by pronounced fruit, and at this age the malt shows the character of several orchard fruits.
The nose combines baked apple, creamy hazelnut malt, apricot spiced with ginger, and honey. The palate brings spiced apple compote, stone fruit, sweet nutty oak, honeyed malt and candied peel. The finish is long, with apple, wood and chocolate.
