Benrinnes – 10 Year Old 2015 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Hogshead The Old Friends (55.9%)

A ten-year-old single malt from Benrinnes in Speyside, distilled in September 2015 and bottled at cask strength, 55.9% ABV. It matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead and comes from The Old Friends, a series of independent single casks created by Michel Reick and Scotch Universe. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose is sweet with sherry, creamy caramel and dark toffee, with dense fruit and a nutty depth. On the palate there is butterscotch, toffee and sherry, with dry wood spice. The finish is dry and woody, with toffee sweetness fading and dark fruit remaining.
