A 12 year old Benrinnes from Speyside, distilled in 2011 and bottled by Douglas Laing for its Premier Barrel Selection, a range inspired by Victorian Music Hall. Each single cask malt is filled by hand into a ceramic decanter. This one is one of 618 bottles, at 46% in a 70cl size, with no colouring and non-chill-filtered.
The nose is cherries and spice, with sandalwood, clove and cinnamon. On the palate chocolate and cherry take on the richness of a black forest gateau. The finish is intense and spicy, fading to burnt sugar and black peppercorn.
