Benrinnes – 1997 22 Year Old Wemyss Malts (56.9%)

This is a 22 year old Speyside single malt from Benrinnes, a 1997 vintage bottled by the independent firm Wemyss Malts at a cask strength of 56.9%. Most of its maturation was spent in bourbon casks. Wemyss Malts was founded in 2005 by the siblings William and Isabella, members of the Scottish Wemyss family, and has been family owned since. The whisky is described as having an edge and plenty of character, ending in a very long finish.
