This is a 20-year-old Benrinnes from Speyside, bottled by Cadenhead in its Sherry Wood Cask series. It was distilled in 2000, matured in an Oloroso sherry cask and bottled in 2020 at a cask strength of 54.7%, without added colour or chill-filtration. The release comprises 336 bottles.
The nose is sweet and syrupy, with cherry, dark berries, plum and milk chocolate. The palate is full and round, with dark fruit syrup, blackberry, leather, brewed tea and dark chocolate. The finish is very sweet and fruity, with cassis, cola, jam and a little coffee and cinnamon.
