A twenty-year-old single cask Benrinnes from Speyside, distilled in 1995 and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the First Cask series, with about 600 bottles produced.
The nose is bright and fresh, with tinned apricots, honey, beeswax and furniture polish, alongside garden flowers such as daffodils and pansies, citrus, toasted cereals and dried hay. The palate is oily, almost waxy, opening with gummy bears before juicy oranges, apricots, lemon and lime, with malt, pepper, ginger and clove behind. The finish is quite long, with dusty spices, particularly pepper.
