This Benrinnes is a 2011 vintage bottled by Wilson & Morgan at 46% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and released as a limited edition.
The whisky was first matured in ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks from Spain. Benrinnes is known for its partly triple distillation, which gives a fuller spirit.
The nose brings dark raisins, honey and crushed walnuts, with candied orange peel and warm cinnamon. The palate starts with malty sweetness, then ripe peaches and apricots, soft caramel, a little ginger and a touch of chocolate. The finish is long, with dry spices and oak set against sultanas and the sweetness of the PX casks.
