Benrinnes 2012 is a 13 year old Speyside single malt, bottled by Signatory at 57.1% ABV as 100 Proof number 78. It was matured in a first fill Oloroso sherry cask.
The sherry cask gives it an intense, full-bodied character, with sherry sweetness running through the palate.
The nose is rich and deep, with dark dried fruit, raisins, nuts and spiced oak, along with chocolate and a touch of sulphur and minerality. The palate is concentrated and oily, with dark caramel, spice and dried fruit. The finish is long, warm and slightly dry, with lingering oak and spice.
