This is Benrinnes 21 Year Old, part of the 2024 Diageo Special Releases, bottled at a cask strength of 55.4%. It carries the nickname Grand Crescendo.
The whisky spent 15 years in refill casks, followed by six years in rejuvenated American and European oak casks with charred ends.
The nose is fruity, with baked apple, pear, peach and a hint of toffee. On the palate there are overripe dark fruits, roasted pears, fig and caramelised apple. The finish is long and spicy, with sweetness.
