This is a 43 year old Speyside single malt from Benrinnes, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Private Collection. It was distilled on 27 March 1978, matured in a refill American hogshead and bottled at the end of 2021 at a natural cask strength of 54.5% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and free of added colouring, and the single cask gave 158 bottles.
The nose is lightly salted lemon with sweet honeysuckle, pineapple, dried apricots and brown sugar. The palate is full and complex, with dried fruit, honey, caramel, spice and ripe oak. The finish is long, warm and spicy, with sweet fruit, caramel and oak.
