Benromach – 10 Years (70cl, 43%)

Benromach 10 Years is a single malt from Forres, on the north-west edge of Speyside, bottled at 43%. It matures on average in 60 per cent sherry casks and 40 per cent bourbon casks. The distillery has worked since 1998 to revive a fuller Speyside style with a touch of smoke. It uses Highland peat at 10-12 ppm, brewer's yeast alongside distiller's yeast, very long fermentations and first-fill casks only, matured in traditional dunnage warehouses. The smoke is delicate and sits with fruit, malt and vanilla.
