This is a 10-year-old Kentucky Straight Wheat Bourbon from Heaven Hill, released as the Bernheim Original 20th Anniversary edition. It marks two decades since Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey launched in 2005, using soft winter wheat as its main grain.
The whisky comes from a selection of barrels aged for 10 years and is bottled at 115 proof (57.5% ABV) as a small batch. It was made at the Bernheim Distillery and aged in rickhouses in Bardstown, Kentucky. A copper plate on the front of the bottle marks the anniversary.
The nose offers cinnamon, baking spices, vanilla and oak, with baked apple and a creamy sweetness. On the palate come molasses, butterscotch and baked apple, with oak that feels oily rather than bitter.
