This is a blended malt bottled at 50% ABV to mark the 15th anniversary of Big Peat. It has been finished in red wine casks.
The nose is medicinal and coastal, with smoke, dried seaweed, smoked lemon and bonfires, while the wine casks add earthy notes, herbs and red berries without taking over. On the palate the wine character is more prominent, with tannins and a slightly bitter edge, forest fruit jam, black pepper, ashy smoke, liquorice and toffee.
The finish is long and dry, with leafy notes, tobacco, burnt herbs and lingering winey tones.
