Big Peat 70th Anniversary LMDW (70cl, 56%)

This Big Peat is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, put together for the 70th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky as part of its Collection Anthology. It is a small batch vatting of Islay whiskies from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and the closed Port Ellen distillery. It has a phenol level of 40 PPM and is bottled at 56%, without chill-filtration or added colour. The whisky is a pale gold. The nose is peat smoke and salty sea air, with tar and a beach bonfire. On the palate, phenolic peat meets coal dust, gentle malt sweetness and pepper. The finish is dry and ashy, with a trace of dark liquorice.
