Big Peat Small Batch is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, made only from Islay single malts, among them Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. It belongs to the Remarkable Regional Malts series and is peated to around 40 PPM.
It is put together in small batches and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The nose opens with sea air and peat smoke, followed by sweet malt, light vanilla and damp earth. The palate is smoky, with ash, sweet tar and roasted malt over a salty note. The finish is long, with peat smoke, bonfire ash, sea salt, a little pepper and salty liquorice.
