Blackforest Wild Whisky Sherry Cask 8 Year Old (50cl, 42%)

Sherry Cask is an eight-year-old single malt from the Wild distillery in Gengenbach, in the Black Forest, bottled at 42% in a 50cl bottle. Pedro Ximénez sherry casks shape the maturation most clearly, alongside new American white oak and cognac casks. The sherry casks come directly from Jerez de la Frontera and are filled with whisky within days of being emptied. The distillery uses its own summer barley, dried over peat fire, and distils twice. In 2019 it was named best whisky in Germany at an international spirits competition. The nose is fruity, with toffee, caramel and roasted coffee. The palate is soft and lightly sweet, with dark chocolate and grape, and the finish is led by sherry.
