Bladnoch 8 Year Old is a Lowland single malt from Bladnoch in Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway, the most southerly distillery in Scotland, which has operated since 1817. It is matured in American oak red wine casks chosen by Master Distiller Nick Savage.
The red wine casks bring strawberry jam, vanilla and rounded tannin. It is bottled at 46.6% ABV without chill filtration.
The nose is strawberry jam, soft vanilla and gentle oak. The palate has rounded red-fruit sweetness, nutmeg and drying wine-cask tannin. The finish is clean and lightly herbal, with lingering spice and oak.
