Alinta is a Lowland single malt from Bladnoch in Galloway, bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. The name means fire in an Indigenous Australian language, and the whisky was made under Dr Nick Savage.
It starts with peated spirit fermented with wild yeast, then matures in a combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry and ex-Bourbon casks, giving both smoke and sweetness.
The nose offers smoky ice cream, delicate florals and sweet oak. The palate has campfire smoke, almonds and raisin with a white-chocolate body, and the finish is long and gently smoky.
