Blair Athol – 12 Year Old Marsala Cask Finish (Pintail, The Whisky Cellar) (70cl, 46.9%)

This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Blair Athol, bottled by The Whisky Cellar as part of its Pintail series. The whisky was distilled in 2011 and finished in a Marsala wine cask, number 4011, in an edition of 272 bottles. It is bottled at 46.9% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration and without added colouring. The nose is fruity, with ripe berries and a hint of Marsala spice. The palate is strong yet elegant, with sweet dried fruit, gentle peppery notes and spice. The finish is long, warm and lightly peppery, with dried fruit lingering.
