This is a 14-year-old Blair Athol single malt from the Highlands, released as The Forbidden Kingdom in a 10cl bottle. It is a vatting of an Oloroso octave and a Pedro Ximenez octave.
The nose brings yellow plums, stewed damson with vanilla custard, vanilla crescent biscuits, caramel, milk chocolate and hazelnut, with a hint of orange and liquorice, and darker notes of forest floor, moss and spicy honey. The palate offers pale grape juice, a medley of light fruit, vanilla cream pudding, damson and mirabelle plums, with caramel, nut and honey notes. It stays lively despite the modest strength.
The finish is long, with wood spice and chocolate.
