Blair Athol – 2008 14 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength (70cl, 57.8%)

This is a single cask Highland single malt from Blair Athol, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2023 at 14 years old. Gordon & MacPhail released it in its Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range, in a 70cl bottle at a natural 57.8%. It was matured in cask 18601603, a refill bourbon barrel, which gave 165 bottles. Blair Athol is more often matured in sherry casks, and the whisky is bottled without colouring or chill filtration. The tasting notes describe red apple, tropical fruit and butterscotch on the nose. The palate offers sweet mango and pineapple with dark honey and mature oak, and the medium finish carries lingering citrus fruit.
