Blair Athol 23 Year Old is a single malt from the Diageo Special Releases of 2017, bottled at 58.4% in an outturn of 5,514 bottles. It is the distillery's first appearance in the annual series and its first official release since 2003.
It was matured in European oak casks that had been scraped, toasted and recharred before filling.
The nose is usually described as peppermint, burnt toffee, Christmas spice and orange. The palate brings toffee and apple, sherry notes, burnt coffee and warm spice, with raisins at the end. The finish is creamy, with plum and grapefruit.
