This is an 8-year-old Blair Athol single malt, distilled in 2015 near Pitlochry and bottled in spring 2024 by Murray McDavid as part of their Benchmark range. Blair Athol is rarely seen as a single malt.
The spirit was matured in bourbon hogsheads, then finished in first-fill Tawny Port and Madeira wine barriques. The Port casks bring ripe red fruit and a gentle sweetness, while the Madeira adds richness and a lively edge.
It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 52.1% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, in an outturn of 1,355 bottles.
