A 10-year-old Blair Athol from Pitlochry in Perthshire, bottled by Elixir Distillers in 2023 as The Bloody Sergeant. It portrays the wounded soldier who reports the battle to King Duncan at the start of Shakespeare's Macbeth, and belongs to The Household series of the Macbeth Collection, Act One. The whisky is a vatting of bourbon hogsheads and re-charred former wine casks. The bourbon wood adds vanilla and toffee, the wine casks fruit and a firm tannic grip. It is bottled at 51.8% in an edition of 2,800 bottles, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose has yellow apples, orange, malt, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate shows clove, liquorice, dark bitter beer and blackberries. The finish stays spicy, with black tea and cocoa.
