Bomberger's Declaration is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Michter's, here in its 2023 release, bottled at 54% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It honours the original Bomberger's Distillery of Pennsylvania.
The bourbon follows Michter's small-batch approach and is aged in custom casks of Chinquapin oak. The wood is air-dried for over three years before toasting and charring. The blend is overseen by Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
The nose shows charred oak, dark caramel, vanilla bean and roasted coffee, with dried fruit, clove and cinnamon. The palate has brown sugar, toffee, cocoa and toasted nuts on a firm oak backbone. The finish is long and warming, with baking spice, smoky oak and molasses.
