Bomberger's Declaration is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Michter's, here in its 2024 release, bottled at 54% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The name recalls Bomberger's, one of the earliest distilleries in Pennsylvania, which later became the modern Michter's.
It is produced in small batches in Louisville, Kentucky, and matured in barrels made from Chinquapin oak, an American white oak variety that is air-dried and seasoned for over three years before toasting and charring.
The nose brings dark caramel, brown sugar and roasted pecans with toasted oak and cigar box. On the palate come toffee, molasses and baking spice, with dark chocolate and leather. The finish is long, running through spice, oak and sweet tobacco.
