Bomberger's Declaration Small Batch 2021 Kentucky Straight Bourbon (70cl, 54%)

This is a 2021 small batch Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 54% in a 70cl bottle. It pays tribute to the original Bomberger distillery of the 1800s, which later became Michter's. The bourbon was aged in specialised barrels, including some made from Chinquapin oak that had been air-dried for over three years. As with the 2019 and 2020 releases, the char level was adjusted to shape the profile. The nose has caramel and honey, charred oak spice, green apple and a touch of tobacco. The palate offers crème brûlée, dark fruits and berries, with cedar, candied orange, cinnamon and pepper. The finish is long, warm, sweet and spicy.
