Bowman Brothers Pioneer Spirit Small Batch Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 45%)

Bowman Brothers Pioneer Spirit is a small batch Virginia straight bourbon from the A. Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg, bottled at 45% (90 proof). It is named for four Bowman brothers who served as Virginia militia officers and in 1779 led pioneer families to Kentucky. The mash is corn, rye and malted barley, distilled three times in a copper still and matured for around six to seven years in new charred American white oak. The nose is sweet fruit, brown sugar, corn and vanilla, with oak and spice in the background. The palate shows vanilla, caramel, almond, cocoa and gentle oak, and the finish is mellow, with building clove and nutmeg.
