This is Bowmore 12 Year Old from the Sherry Oak Collection, an Islay single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The collection was introduced internationally from September 2024.
The whisky is built on selected Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. The European oak of the sherry casks brings fruit, wood, nut and sweet spice together, while Bowmore's smoke stays present alongside the sweeter notes.
Tasting notes describe vanilla caramel, red berries and marzipan on the nose. The palate offers ripe pears, lemon juice, cinnamon, toasted almonds and peaches in syrup, with the smoke growing stronger. The long finish closes on sweet spice.
