Bowmore 12 Year Old – Sherry Oak Cask (40%)

Bowmore 12 Year Old Sherry is an Islay single malt bottled at 40% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour. It matured for twelve years in a mix of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, then received an Oloroso sherry finish. Bourbon wood is described as adding creamy vanilla and caramel, while the Oloroso brings red berries, dried fruit and warm spice. Bowmore was founded in 1779 by David Simson on the shore of Loch Indaal. It is typically described as having soft peat smoke, caramel and marzipan, peach, pear and citrus, with roasted almonds, cinnamon and a slowly rising smoke.
