Bowmore – 12 Years (70cl, 40%)

Bowmore 12 Years is a 12 year old Islay single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Bowmore was founded in 1779 and was the first legal distillery on Islay. It runs its own maltings, where the peat is broken up before burning so that it gives more smoke than heat. Its malts are moderately smoky for Islay, at around 35 ppm. The distillery sits between the intense malts of the south coast and the gentler malts of the north, and up to 30% of its malt matures in sherry casks.
