Bowmore – 12 Years Enigma 1 Litre (1L, 40%)

This is Bowmore Enigma, a 12-year-old Islay single malt bottled at 40% in a one-litre bottle. Bowmore stands on Loch Indaal and was built in 1779, making it the oldest distillery on the island. Enigma spent more of its maturation in sherry casks than the standard Bowmore 12 Year, which gives a darker colour and a slightly sweeter taste, balanced by robust smoke and a subtle citrus undertone. The nose offers sherry, sea salt, peat, light honey, orange and oak. Sherry sweetness leads the palate, followed by smoke and a hint of citrus. The finish is long, balancing peat, sweetness and citrus.
