Bowmore 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 43%, without chill-filtration or added colour. It matured in American ex-bourbon casks and in European oak that previously held sherry, then was finished in hand-picked Ruby Port casks from the Douro Valley.
The finish brings dark berries and chocolate alongside spicy oak, with the maritime and gently peaty character of Bowmore, a distillery on the shore of Loch Indaal since 1779.
On the nose it is described as seaweed and sea salt with fine wood smoke.
