Bowmore 18 Years is an Islay single malt that replaced the 17-year-old Bowmore. It is matured in Oloroso sherry casks.
Bowmore was founded in 1779, and part of the barley for this bottling is still malted on the traditional malting floor, then dried slowly over a peat fire.
The nose is creamy caramel with exotic fruit and peat smoke. The palate is very complex, with caramel sweets, sweet biscuits, fruit and chocolate, rounded off by a light smokiness. The finish is long and rounded.
