This is the third Masters' Selection from Bowmore and Aston Martin, a 22 year old Islay single malt bottled at 51% ABV. It was created by Bowmore's Master Blender Ron Welsh together with Aston Martin's Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, and released in 2023.
The whisky matured in European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry and in American oak hogsheads. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose opens with lemon peel, poached peach and vanilla, followed by dark syrup, salted caramel, old oak, roasted chestnuts and soft leather. On the palate, sherry and nut notes meet cocoa, raisins, muscovado sugar, red berries and peat smoke. The finish is long and sweet, with oak spice and sea salt.
