Bowmore – 22 Year Old Sauternes Cask Finish (48%)

This is a 22-year-old Islay single malt from Bowmore, bottled at 48% ABV. It matured for many years in American ex-bourbon casks, then received a finish in Sauternes barriques from Bordeaux. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The Sauternes finish adds concentrated fruit, honey sweetness and a gentle winey note, while the Islay character of peat and coastal air stays clearly present. Bowmore sits on the shore of Loch Indaal. On the nose, expect pronounced peat smoke together with salty sea air.
