This is a 30 year old Islay single malt, an official Bowmore bottling at 45.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 1989 and matured in a selection of bourbon and sherry casks. Only 2,976 bottles were filled, and no colouring was added.
The maturation took place in the No. 1 Vaults, and the maritime climate of Islay is credited with shaping its style.
The nose offers fragrant heather and golden honey with ripe nectarines, bananas and a touch of vanilla. On the palate come mango and papaya alongside honey, a subtle note of smoke and fresh mint. The finish is long and precise, with juicy fruit and fine Islay smokiness.
