This is a 33 year old Islay single malt from Bowmore, released in 2022 as a limited edition of 667 bottles. The Changeling is the second release in the Frank Quitely series and a collaboration between the artist Frank Quitely and master blender Ron Welsh. It takes its inspiration from an old folktale about a blacksmith who saved his son from the Fairy Folk.
The whisky matured in American oak hogsheads and was then finished in white port and tawny port casks.
The nose is colourful and flowery, with Turkish delight, rose water and potpourri, and the palate carries a flowery, sherbet-like perfume.
