Bowmore 9 Year Old is a single malt from Islay's oldest licensed distillery, in a 75cl bottle. It pairs a medium-peated coastal spirit with a strong cask influence.
The whisky spends at least nine years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and European oak Oloroso sherry butts and puncheons.
The nose is apple-sweet sherry, stewed plums and currants, with gentle peat smoke and dark cocoa behind. On the palate are cinnamon-dusted raisins, nectarine and caramel, then tobacco leaf, sea salt and soft wood smoke. The finish is medium to long, with dark fruit, lavender and dry peat ash.
